Verde Watershed Field School
A Terrific
Success!
May 18-19, 2002
Our intention was
to provide a relatively small group of primary and secondary school
educators a high-quality, low-cost field school that included watershed,
water supply and water use information for educators to use and apply in
their classrooms and curricula.
In the fall of
2001, we sent a survey about a possible field school to many watershed
educators, and this program has been developed in response to the many
positive and enthusiastic responses that we received.
The key players in the field
school consisted of about 25 educators from throughout the watershed. The
two days were be broken up into four sections.
Educators had the opportunity to
learn from several specialists each day, covering these interesting topics:
- Geology
- Hydrogeology
- Riparian ecology
(emphasizing botany)
- Water biology
- Water quality
- Water conservation
