WREP
Student Research Grants
2008-2009 Grant
Cycle
Deadline for submissions: April 15,
2008
The Watershed Research and
Education Program has $12,000 for student research grants for the 2008-2009
year.
Applicants:
Undergraduate or graduate students in a watershed-related field of
study.
Award:
Up to $4,000 will be awarded to successful applicants; we will grant up to
2 awards for this second round of competition for the 2008-2009 cycle.
The
mission of the WREP is to promote research on water resources in the
north-central Arizona watersheds. An important program objective is to promote
student-centered research. Also, the program prefers to fund project ideas
developed in concert with watershed stakeholders. Potential applicants are
encouraged to contact relevant stakeholders to identify and develop
projects.
- Funds must be expended within
one year after the award is announced.
- Students shall have an
identified
faculty supervisor for the proposed research.
- Students must have support from a stakeholder in
the subject watershed(s) and that stakeholder or another party shall
provide funding to match the funds requested from WREP.
- Students will need to make at
least one presentation of their research in the watershed of interest; travel expenses
for that presentation will be supported by WREP.
- Students must also prepare
web pages describing their research and results. These web pages will be hosted at
www.watershed.nau.edu.
- The presentation and website must be completed before
payment of the final installment of the award is made.
